With each initial order of the XMED Mail System we will provide an OSHA MEDICAL WASTE MANUAL to assist the Generator with a plan for managing their Sharps and other Regulated Medical Waste.
This Manual is a guide intended to bring the Generator into compliance with federal regulations. It simplifies OSHA requirements for the prevention of exposure to Bloodborne pathogens and safety procedures for handling Sharps and other Regulated Medical Waste.
The Manual has standard operating procedures designed to assure that work practices and procedures are in place to achieve a safe environment. The Manual's goal is to minimize employee exposure to Hepatitis, HIV, and other Bloodborne pathogens by adopting universal precautions for infection control. It describes the use of personal protective gear, safe handling, and proper disposal of Sharps and other Regulated Medical Waste.
The manual provides a guide to exposure determination along with possible exposure situations. It also has record keeping recommendations and a compilation of generic forms and applications.
XMED encourages the use of the OSHA Medical Waste Manual or similar applications in conjunction with our Mail System to ensure the proper compliance of Sharps and other Regulated Medical Waste activities. This Manual is a tool to assist the Medical Waste Generator with compliance. XMED Incorporated does not warrant or guarantee that this material will cover all possible situations or regulatory requirements that are unique to a specific Generator's practice or geographic location.
