Regulated Medical Waste
This page discusses the following solutions: medical waste, regulated medical waste & medical waste management.
Medical waste is considered as all waste materials generated at health care facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, physician's offices, dental practices, blood banks, and veterinary hospitals/clinics, as well as medical research facilities and laboratories.
XMED offers an innovative collection and disposal method for all types of Regulated Medical Waste. The XMED method is the perfect solution to the sometime confusing job of handling Biohazard waste and is individually designed for each Facility to comply with regulations as well as reduce cost.
XMED is known for its problem free process. We work closely with the Facility's Environmental Management Staff to ensure proper containment and handling of Regulated Medical Waste products. Our clients are getting high grades by Joint Commission on Accreditation based on compliance standards implemented by the Company.
It is important that the Facility's Environmental Service staff understands what Regulated Medical Waste is and what is considered trash. When defining Regulated Medical Waste, the amount of contamination and the risk of injury through disease is the key. Some Medical Facilities believe they must dispose of all items that have been merely contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious materials regardless of the amount of contamination or risk from the spread of disease. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration regulations do not require this. In fact, according the Center for Disease Control only 10 % of the waste from a Medical Facility is actually Regulated Waste with needles and other Sharps being the bulk of that material. XMED offers Compliance Training that can result in an immediate reduction in the volume of material generated at most Medical Facilities.
